Livingston appears in the marquee

What a story

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought English cricket star Liam Livingstone for ₹8.75 crore at the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday.

Later, RCB attacked England opener Phil Salt hard. Together with KKR, they went head to head before the former sealed the deal.

The purchase of RCB comes after Punjab Kings (PBKS), Livingston’s former team since 2022, refused to use their Right to Match Card (RTM) for him.

Meanwhile, RCB bought Salt for ₹11.50 crore.

Livingstone’s journey and performances in the IPL

Livingstone started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2019, but it was in PBKS that he really came into his own.

He showcased his phenomenal batting prowess by scoring 437 runs at a staggering strike rate of 182.08.

There is no denying that this performance played a major role in attracting RCB’s attention during the auction.

Livingston’s unique skill set

In addition to his batting ability, Livingston also brings a unique skill set to the table.

He can switch between wrist spin and finger spin at the same time, making him a valuable asset for any team.

This versatility certainly played a role in RCB’s decision to buy him at such a high price in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Salt had a defining 2024 IPL season

Salt has been a reliable customer for champions Knight Riders in IPL 2024. In 12 matches, he has scored a whopping 435 runs at 39.54. He hit 50 fours and 24 sixes. His strike rate was 182.
