Should the Dodgers consider this blockbuster starring Gavin Lux?

Should the Dodgers consider this blockbuster starring Gavin Lux?

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Dodgers will be busy this winter after winning their second World Series in five years.

After spending $1 billion last winter, the Dodgers may not plan to spend huge sums on free agents again, but they still need to create some roster space that can be acquired through a trade.

The Dodgers have made several moves in the minor leagues and recently met with Juan Soto, but the biggest news of the offseason came from general manager Brandon Gomez when he announced that Mookie Betts would return to the infield in 2025.

More news: Teoscar Hernandez has made a decision about his immediate future with the Dodgers.

Betts is no stranger to the infield. He entered last season as the team’s starting second baseman and was moved to shortstop as Gavin Lux struggled to find his footing after ACL surgery. Betts was given the starting shortstop number and ran with it until he broke his arm.

Upon returning from the injured list, Betts moved back to right field. While the Dodgers lineup looks strongest with Betts in right field, the three-time World Series champion has expressed a clear desire to return to the infield. As a result, the team plans to fulfill his request.

This ad gave Dodgers Nation’s Noah Kamras an idea.

With a logjam in the center of the infield and the likelihood of Betts returning to shortstop, Lux will likely be out of work.

“While the Dodgers would like to retain Lux, a homegrown talent and former first-rounder who excelled last year, the team also has big offensive needs in the outfield and a ton of pitching needs.” Kamras wrote. “Lux is therefore an ideal candidate for a trade.

“While Lux could very well lead a package for All-Star ace Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox, who is looking for position players, there is another trade that makes even more sense for Lux and the Dodgers. Lux should lead the pack for the Milwaukee Brewers with two-time All-Star right-handed pitcher Devin Williams, who is entering his final year at the helm of the team, a top transfer candidate.

Kamras presents the whole deal as follows:

Dodgers receive: Right-handed pitcher Devin Williams

Brewers receive: Infielder Gavin Lux, right-handed pitcher Peter Heubeck, right-handed pitching prospect Payton Martin

Of all the trade offers presented this offseason, Kamras’ proposal makes the most sense and is the one the Dodgers should consider. The Dodgers get a bullpen arm to replace retiring pitcher Daniel Hudson, while the Brewers get the Wisconsin native in Lux.
