Thunder acquire Heat star in new trade proposal: ‘A bold turn for both sides’

The Oklahoma City Thunder may have the most talented roster in the NBA, but they lack experience.

Should OKC make a huge move for a veteran star to help their young team reach the finals?

It’s an idea worth considering, especially since the Thunder have a plethora of assets at their disposal that allow them to compete with just about any franchise that has an expendable superstar.

Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat has been mentioned a lot in trade rumors lately, but not often in connection with the Thunder.

Fran Leyva of Fadeaway World is changing that trend, as Leyva recently floated the idea of a Butler trade to OKC that would send Aaron Wiggins, Jaylin Williams and two first-round picks (2026, 2028) to Miami in Butler’s place.

“The Thunder are gaining momentum… but adding Jimmy Butler will give them the experience and good play they need to make a deep playoff run,” Leyva said.

“He is still one of the best two-way players in the league and his leadership would be huge for a team with championship aspirations.”

For the Heat… Butler leaving may seem like a drastic move, but with his $48.8 million contract in the final year, it’s a logical move if they’re not competing at a high level.”

“Wiggins and Williams won’t replace Butler right away, but combined with their selections, they’ll have a foundation to work with. “Additionally, fulfilling Butler’s massive contract gives them flexibility heading into the offseason.”

“For the Thunder, this move will be a signal that they are all-in.”

“In the meantime, the Heat will officially move toward a rebuild or retooling.”

“This deal will be a bold step for both sides.”
