The Dallas Cowboys don’t appear to be pursuing quarterback Daniel Jones.

The Giants released the 27-year-old on Friday after six seasons with the team. He’s set to clear waivers on Monday and could be an intriguing option for a team in need of a quarterback.

With starting quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season with a hamstring injury, the Cowboys could be a team that fits that description. However, NFL insider Josina Anderson said the team is “not currently pursuing” Jones.

For those who ask, I was told #Cowboys are not currently pursuing QB Daniel Jones, per source.

The Cowboys depth chart currently consists of Cooper Rush and Trey Lance, with Prescott unavailable.

In Prescott’s absence, Rush threw for 566 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and led the team to a 0–2 record. While this record isn’t ideal, Dallas is currently 3-7 and will need a miracle to somehow make the postseason.

Adding Jones could theoretically improve the team’s chances of contending, but likely won’t move the needle enough to actually get them into the playoffs. He was lackluster for the Giants in 2024, throwing for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions and leading the team to a 2-8 record before being benched after Week 11.

In the right situation, he could have a redemption arc, but that may have to wait until 2025. Meanwhile, Dallas will roll the dice with Rush and Lance and then hope that Prescott can lead the team to a strong season in 2025.
