Two in court deny murdering student nurse – The Irish News

Two Armagh men have appeared in court where they have denied charges of murdering 23-year-old nursing student Odhran Kelly.

Mr Kelly’s body was found beaten and burned in a car in the Edward Street area of Lurgan in December last year.

Two men and one woman appeared at Belfast Crown Court for an arraignment hearing, with all three pleading not guilty to the charges against them.

Gary Damien Scullion (32), of Edward Street, Lurgan, and Shane Hart, 32, of Garland Avenue, Lurgan, were jointly charged with the murder of Mr Kelly on December 3, 2023.

When the court clerk asked Scullion how he could justify the charge, he replied: “Not guilty.”

The same charge was then brought against Hart, and when asked how he exonerated himself, he also replied, “Not guilty.”

Also in the dock was Stephanie McClelland (36) from Lagmore Grove in Lisburn.

She was charged with assisting an offender, namely that on December 3, 2023, she assisted others in removing and destroying the body of Odhran Kelly.

Like her two co-defendants, she denied the charges against her.

Two other accused also appeared in court today but their charges were not continued.

Following the hearing, Judge O’Hara said he would hear the case on January 31, 2025.

Scullion and McClelland were remanded in custody and Hart was released on bail.
