WBBL 2024: Brisbane Heat beat Melbourne Stars to secure play-off spot

Brisbane Heat have secured their place in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) with a comfortable result. nine-wicket win due to problems with the Melbourne Stars.

Rain reduced the match to seven overs per side and the Stars limped to 46–6 with Heat opener Jess Jonassen claiming 3–8.

The Heat reached the total with the loss of one wicket and 10 balls remaining as Australian batter Grace Harris finished unbeaten on 21 off 16 balls.

The top four teams will advance from the group stage, while the first place team will advance directly to the final on December 1st.

The third and fourth place teams will then play in a playoff, with the winner of that match facing the second place Challenger team to determine the other finalist.

Heath will join the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades in guaranteeing a top-four finish, with the battle for fourth spot being between Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers.

The stars are at the bottom of the table and out of competition.
