ASHLAND, Virginia. When planning your vacation, be sure to include a stop in Ashland, Virginia.

The city’s Light Up the Tracks event kicks off the Christmas season in downtown Ashland on Saturday, November 23rd.

The event includes decorating historic buildings and a massive tree outside Ashland City Hall on Thompson Street.

The festivities will begin with a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. featuring the Randolph Macon Concert Choir.

There are two miles of lights with over 10,000 bulbs and a costume contest.

“Ashland is a signature town. We want to light up the hearts of our community and the hearts of our neighbors. That’s why we’re starting with the Light the Tracks celebration, but continuing it throughout the holiday season,” Louise Keaton, Ashland Downtown Association said.

The celebration continues throughout the holiday season, culminating with a masquerade ball on New Year’s Eve.
