San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was limited during Wednesday’s practice and refrained from participating altogether, at least at the position that was open to the media. Purdy is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and the pain was reported when he checked in with the team Monday morning.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero doesn’t expect the injury to sideline Purdy for this weekend’s crucial game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

“Based on everything I’ve been told, Brock Purdy will suit up for Sunday’s game against the Packers,” Pelissero said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show with guest host Mike Hill. “His shoulder hurts. I know he dove – I’m not sure if it’s a play – but he dove towards the pylon in last week’s game, maybe landed on it a little bit. But it’s not something like a serious injury.

“They want to ease his reps during the week so he doesn’t do a lot of reps in training yesterday. I believe he will be in the lineup against the Packers.

This is encouraging news for the 49ers, who desperately need a win after falling to 5-5 on the season. A win would help them climb out of the NFC West basement and back into the playoff race.

Despite their struggles, the 49ers are just one game behind the division-leading Arizona Cardinals, who have a 6-4 record.
