Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price appear to be on track for a big team-up next year. Jonas will make her long-awaited return to the ring when she faces WBC belt holder Ivana Habazin at the Expo Center on Saturday, December 14th.

The 40-year-old has not competed since retaining her IBF welterweight title with a split decision win over Michaela Mayer at the M&S Bank Arena back in January. Price will make the first defense of his WBA welterweight title against Bexsy Matheusun on the undercard of Jonas vs. Habazin.

Speaking recently, Boxxer founder and CEO Ben Shalom said the pair’s win on December 14 would put them on a collision course early next year. And both fighters appear interested in the fight – provided they both fulfill their commitments next month.

“One hundred percent,” Price said when asked on Sky Sports about a possible fight with Jonas. “I respect Tasha, but this is a great fight; This is a great British fight, one of the best fights.

“I believe in myself. I believe I can become undisputed in this division. It’s a big fight and I’m excited. I believe in myself and I believe that I will also get this victory.”

Responding to Price, Jonas said: “The only thing I can say is we’ll see, that’s all. She has one of the belts that I never had, which is the WBA. I want to take him home with me. So we’ll see.”

Asked about her fight with Habazin, Jonas added: “I’m very motivated. For a long time I sat on the sidelines and watched everyone else box.

“I’m just glad to be back and boxing in my hometown. There’s no place like home; I love bringing great boxing back to Liverpool.

“When you get to that level, things are going to be difficult. There is no such thing as an easy night. I expect a tough fight. This is what I trained for.”
