Brave Search adds AI chat for follow-up questions after your initial request.

Brave announced Thursday that it is introducing an AI-powered chat mode for follow-up questions based on initial queries in Brave Search. Earlier this year, the company launched an “Answer with AI” summary that appears above search results after you submit a query and gives you an easy-to-read answer in response to the question. The AI ​​Reply summary will now include a chat panel that will allow you to ask follow-up questions regarding your original request.

The new feature gives users access to features not available on Google, the world’s largest search engine. While Google offers “AI Reviews,” which are similar to Brave’s “AI Answer” summary, the company doesn’t offer users the ability to ask follow-up questions based on the initial query, as users instead have to perform an entirely new search. when looking for more information.

If you go to Brave Search and type in “Christoper Nolan films,” you will get an AI-generated summary that will give you a general idea of ​​who Christoper Nolan is and a list of some of his famous films. Starting today, under the AI-generated summary, you’ll see a chat bar that says, “Ask a follow-up question.”

You can then enter an additional query, such as “Which actors appear most often in his films.” The AI ​​chatbot will then provide you with a list of actors Nolan often cast in his films.

After you ask a follow-up question, you’ll enter a chat that suggests sources for each new question to indicate where the chatbot is getting its information from.

Brave says this new experience, based on a combination of open and internal LLMs, eliminates the need for users to choose between chat- or search-focused tools. For example, search engines are good at finding images, links, and information, while AI chatbots are great at exploring topics with related questions based on context. Now Brave combines these two types of tools with its latest feature.

Brave notes that your conversations with Answer with AI remain secure and private because Brave Search does not save your queries or profile you.

The company said Brave Search serves more than 36 million queries per day, and its Answer with AI tool generates more than 11 million answers daily.
