Johor to introduce ‘super stripe’ to speed up business

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A ‘super strip’ will be introduced in Johor to facilitate business as part of the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said Johor Super Lane (JSL) is part of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Center Johor (IMFC-J) platform, which acts as a one-stop facilitation center involving government agencies and local government units.

“The JSL aims to standardize processes and make significant improvements, such as saving up to two years in the land development process for land that has not yet received planning permission.

“The process is expected to be reduced from 37 months to 13 months,” he said while presenting the Johor Budget 2025 during the state assembly in Kota Iskandar on Thursday (Nov 21).

He added that under the JSL, business licenses can also be issued within one hour after the applicant provides a certificate of completion and compliance.

Onn Hafeez said JSL is a manifestation of the existing Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) initiative, which has become a benchmark for other local councils in the state, as well as in the states of Melaka and Selangor.

He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also mentioned the CFL in his 2025 budget.

“A special JS-SEZ committee will also be formed, comprising representatives from both parties, to study the effectiveness and suggest improvements that can be made so that the zone can benefit the people,” Onn Hafeez added.
