Pittsburgh Steelers bring back promising overtime after unexpected cutback

The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed offensive lineman Dylan Cook to their practice squad, the team announced Monday. Pittsburgh currently has 17 players on its practice squad and will have to make a move to add someone else.

Last week, the Steelers released Cook just a day after activating him from injured reserve. Cook suffered a Lisfranc injury during the team’s joint practice with the Buffalo Bills back in August. He has been practicing over the past two weeks, getting up to speed and is now able to play when needed, but will have to be taken off the practice squad.

At this point, the Steelers still only have three true offensive players on their roster: Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr. and Calvin Anderson. Spencer Anderson can also play tackle and work on the interior, giving the Steelers additional depth.

The Steelers claimed Cook off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last summer. He spent a full year on their active roster, but only played one game due to a lack of injuries on the offensive line.
