TfL reintroduces Oyster photocards after cyber attack

But student Stephanie Harman, 24, speaking last week, criticized the lack of updates and said many students may not be able to afford public transport.

The master’s student said the situation cost her an extra £50 a month, although she kept receipts in the hope of getting a refund.

The 18+ Student Photo Card allows customers to save 30% on adult, bus and tram passes.

TfL will also begin accepting new applications for the 60+ Oyster photo card in the coming weeks.

TfL will be accepting new applications for 5-10, 11-15 and 16+ Zip Oyster photo cards by the end of November, with expired 5-10 and 11-15 photo cards still being accepted until 31 December.

We are currently accepting new applications for photo cards for students 18+, nursing graduates 18-25 and Apprentice Oyster.

Tfl said that once customers receive the new photo cards, they will provide information on how they can apply for a refund.

In a statement, Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance said TfL was “working incredibly hard around the clock” to restore services knocked offline due to the cyber attack.

Goksu Danachi, president of the University College London (UCL) Students’ Union, said she was pleased that the issue of student photo cards was coming to an end.

“Students have had a difficult start to the school year due to ongoing pressure on the cost of living, with travel costs making up a large portion of students’ daily expenses,” she said.

“We are pleased that TfL is once again accepting applications for 18+ student photo cards and has committed to reimbursing students for any additional costs they incur while applications have been unavailable.”
