Watch Rocket Lab launch a mystery mission early on November 4th

Rocket Lab plans to launch the secret mission early Monday morning (November 4), and you’ll be able to watch it happen live.

The mission for a “confidential commercial customer” is scheduled to lift off on an Electron vehicle from Rocket Lab’s New Zealand site on Monday at 5:30 a.m. EST (09:30 GMT).

Rocket Lab will broadcast the launch live starting 30 minutes before liftoff. Space.com will broadcast this information if Rocket Lab makes it available.

Monday’s mission, which Rocket Lab calls “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,” will send one commercial satellite into low-Earth orbit.

However, that’s about all we know about it; The company did not provide additional information, presumably at the request of an unnamed client.

“Changes in Latitude, Changes in Views” will be Rocket Lab’s 12th launch in 2024 and 54th overall. All of these missions were carried out using the 59-foot-tall (18-meter) Electron vehicle, which is designed to carry small satellites into Earth orbit or beyond. (Electron launched NASA’s CAPSTONE mission, which sent a cubesat to the Moon.)

But that’s about to change, if all goes according to plan: Rocket Lab is developing a larger, partially reusable rocket called Neutron, expected to debut next year.
