Seven years after the brutal death of a man walking home from a pub, detectives are still hunting his killer. Adam Ellison had his life ahead of him, had nothing to do with organized crime and was preparing for his 30th birthday.

He also planned to ask his partner to marry him, but it was all brutally snatched from him by a bandit on the back of a bicycle. Adam was walking home from the pub with a group of friends in the early hours of November 4, 2017, when an argument broke out after a motorcycle nearly crashed into them in Market Square, Prescot.

One of the two men on a green and white Kawasaki KX 85 Big Wheel dirt bike stabbed Adam in the neck with an unknown weapon. The killers drove off in the direction of the Tesco store on Sewell Street, while friends and passers-by rushed to Adam’s aid. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 2 a.m.

No one has been charged with murder and seven years his family is still waiting for justice after a senseless killing that ended his life too soon. Adam’s mum Joyce told the ECHO last year: ‘When I walk past where they tried to resuscitate him that night I just see him on the floor. I see these people around him, they do anything.

“One of the shops on this road brought blue tape to try and stop the bleeding. They told us that he was injured, and my husband and I drove up there. We saw this blue and white ribbon so my husband wanted to dive under it. and go to Adam. I was about to follow him and these two young policemen said, “Excuse me, sir, this is a crime scene.”

“He said, ‘He’s my son, he’s my son,’ and (the officer) said, ‘Sorry sir, we can’t let you in, this is a crime scene.’ My son was at the crime scene and I couldn’t even get close to him. It’s heartbreaking, I want him to know that we were there with him, these people who took him from us.”

The ongoing investigation has followed multiple lines of inquiry and made arrests, but detectives continue to appeal for information. The charity Crimestoppers continues to offer a reward of up to £20,000 for information they receive that leads to a murder conviction.

His family refused to appeal this year because they are not ready for it and they remain heartbroken over the loss they suffered at the hands of a stranger. Detective Chief Inspector Kat Cummings said: “It is heartbreaking that the Adams have finally not received the justice they deserve.

“Seven years after his death, the pain of their loss remains undiminished for his mum, dad and sisters and we continue to do everything we can to support them, review the evidence and follow up on any new lines of inquiry. We know, as is often the case, that the key to solving this problem lies in our local communities. There are people who, for whatever reason, have chosen not to come forward and tell us what they know.

“It is to these people that I make this appeal – please examine your conscience and put yourself in the shoes of the grieving family. If you have information that could help, please let us know. If you don’t want to contact police, you can pass information anonymously through Crimestoppers, but please don’t allow those responsible for Adam’s death to continue to walk our streets.”

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation into Adam’s murder can contact police through the public portal (mipp.police.uk), calling 101 or DMing @MerPolCC. If you prefer not to speak to police, you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward by contacting the Crimestoppers UK contact center free on 0800 555 111 or visiting Crimestoppers-uk.org.
