iOS 18.2 with ChatGPT is expected to debut in the first week of December.

In October, Apple released the first version of Apple Intelligence, iOS 18.1. Here, users received several updates such as an updated Siri UI, writing tools, and a cleanup tool in photos. But now Apple is expanding its capabilities with the release of iOS 18.2. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company plans to release these features on December 2. While Apple has only confirmed the release month, reports point to the first week of December. The iOS 18.2 update will introduce advanced features such as ChatGPT integration with Siri, Genmoji, Image Playground and Visual Intelligence. It will also bring several updates beyond Apple Intelligence.

In addition, Gurman also stated that the next major update after iOS 18.2 will be the release of iOS 18.4 in April, which will include a number of improvements, including an update to Siri that will allow the assistant to access user data and answer questions based on information on your screens. But first, let’s take a look at the updates coming in iOS 18.2.

iOS 18.2 will be released in December

iOS 18.2 is expected to introduce a number of important updates. Notably, the current version of Apple Intelligence features is released in US English only. Therefore, it can only be accessed by users who can switch to US English. But when will he come to India? Read here.

Genmoji: It is similar to traditional emoji but offers more flexibility. Unlike standard emojis that are limited by Unicode, Genmoji allows you to create almost any emoji you can imagine. Apple has developed a specialized API for Genmoji so they can be easily displayed in any app that supports rich text on Apple devices. You can create a Genmoji by describing the look you want, and you even have the option to make Genmoji look like people in your photo library.

ChatGPT integration: Apple is partnering with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to iPhone, iPad and Mac. This collaboration allows Siri to manage complex tasks using ChatGPT, such as creating images or writing text from scratch. With the Writing Tools feature, ChatGPT can create and illustrate unique content, expanding Siri beyond its current functionality.

For example, you can open a long PDF and ask Siri for a summary of a certain topic; Siri will forward the request to ChatGPT to prepare a detailed summary. Apple aims to position Siri as a bridge to artificial intelligence tools, optimizing resources to provide answers without the need to switch apps.

Visual Intelligence: On iPhone 16 series, you can use Visual Intelligence, a feature that gives you insight into your surroundings. For example, if you point your camera at a restaurant, you will get information such as opening hours and reviews.

Visual Intelligence also lets you read text aloud, identify phone numbers and addresses to add to your contacts, copy text, and get bulletins. You can search Google to find where to buy specific items you see and point your camera at the item to get more details via ChatGPT. Apple plans to add even more functionality to this feature over time.

Updated writing tools: Apple is expanding the Writing Tools feature to provide more flexible modifications. In iOS 18.1, writing tools can only adjust the tone to friendly, professional, or simplistic. However, in iOS 18.2, users will be able to specify their own tone and content changes, such as adding more action words or turning an email into a poem.

Stick picture: In the Notes app, you can use the Image Wand to create images that complement the content of your note. By tracing the empty space, Image Wand generates an image based on your text. You can also draw something with your finger, trace it with a tool and get the corresponding image. On iPad, sketching with Apple Pencil allows Image Wand to create a suitable image based on your drawing.

Playground images: Image Playground is a brand new application designed to help you create images based on your ideas. Like ChatGPT, you can create images by entering a prompt with suggested categories such as themes, locations and costumes to spark inspiration. The app is focused on stylized content, so the images will not be realistic and may be created in animation or illustration styles.

You can also add images of friends and family by selecting images directly from the Photos app. While Image Playground works as a standalone app, it can also be integrated with apps like Notes and Messages, and even added to third-party apps.
