Montgomery crews work to extinguish a wildfire Sunday.

MONTGOMERY, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – The Montgomery Fire Department reported an ongoing wildfire on Pitcher Street.

The fire remains under control and helicopters dropped water to help firefighters on Sunday, it said.

The public was advised to stay away from the area due to safety concerns and difficulty in extinguishing the fire.

As of Sunday evening, although the fire was contained within the perimeter of the fire line, it is still active and operations are expected to continue through Monday.
