“I love this team and I don’t want to let them down.”

The Detroit Lions were heavily involved in the NFL pregame shows in Week 9.

Head coach Dan Campbell was interviewed by host Charissa Thompson on Fox NFL Sunday.

Detroit’s popular fourth-year head coach talked about the team’s stellar play in the final month of the season, the respect it has among its players and what it means to bring the Lombardi Trophy to Motown.

Campbell also noted that turning Detroit into a winning football team is a far cry from 2021, when the team won just three games in his first season at the helm.

“I remember when this happened, no one gave us a chance,” Campbell said. “You feel like you’re being bullied and picked on and you’re not good enough. Jared Goff, (Amon-Ra) St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Alex Anzalone, man, they went through it. And these guys just kept fighting. I believed that we would become a serious contender with a chance to win consistently.”

Campbell was touched and excited when he was presented with the game ball after beating the Cowboys and being named one of the NFL’s best leaders.

“I appreciate him saying that and it means a lot. I love this team,” Campbell said. “I don’t want to let them down because they won’t let each other down.” This is a special group.”

Quarterback Jared Goff also joined NFL Network for a chat with Kyle Brandt, in which he talked about his rise in popularity and why he decided to wear a “Ricky Bobby” costume for Halloween this year.
