Mum reveals how she’s still breastfeeding her FOUR-year-old son as trolls quickly accuse her of ‘normalising weird things’

A MUM has stunned people by revealing she is still breastfeeding her four-year-old.

Anupama took to Instagram to share a video of herself feeding her son while sitting next to her eldest son and husband.

The trio, dressed in coordinating blue and white outfits, smiled at each other and the camera as the four-year-old sat on his mom’s lap.

In the video’s caption, she celebrated the “beautiful milestone” of reaching four years of breastfeeding, adding: “I owe it to my boys for their support and motivation.

“This journey has been amazing for me.”

In the caption, Anupama added, “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t breastfeed because of your age or tell you that there are no benefits to breastfeeding for a long time.

“Both are myths!

“Long-term care has not only made my life easier, it has also improved my baby’s physical and emotional health.”

Anupama, who works as a lactation consultant, added that in the video she is not trying to disparage formula-feeding mothers.

Instead, she used the caption to ask for more support for breastfeeding mums, insisting that workplaces should have adequate pumping facilities.

“It is important that every mother receives proper support during breastfeeding,” concluded Anupama.

However, the comments section of the video was almost immediately filled with rude remarks from trolls, with many accusing her of trying to “normalize weird things.”

Ferne McCann brutally shamed mum for breastfeeding in public during luxury holiday in Croatia

“It’s very unpleasant to watch,” admitted one of them.

As another wrote: “4 years??? Don’t normalize weird things!

“There is such a thing as modesty and decency,” countered a third.

“Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it has to be done in front of everyone.

“Peeing, pooping and having sex are also natural. Breastfeeding is just as natural.

“If we don’t do the first three exercises in public, then why make such a big deal about breastfeeding in public?”

What is the NHS advice on when to stop breastfeeding?

“It is recommended that your baby be exclusively breastfed (give her only breast milk) for the first 6 months of her life,” the NHS says on its website.

“After 6 months, breastfeeding still provides many benefits to you and your baby.

“It protects them from infection and there is some evidence that it helps digest your baby’s first solid food.

“It also continues to provide the balance of nutrients your baby needs.”

They also noted that the World Health Organization “recommends that children start eating solid foods at 6 months and breastfeed until they are 2 years of age or longer.”

“We can’t keep normalizing every stupid action in the name of progressiveness,” someone else fumed.

“It has to end somewhere.”

“Can you imagine being made fun of by a child at school and his friends?” another added.

“Poor child!”

“This is weird in so many ways… I’m a pediatrician and a big proponent of breastfeeding but this is going too far and that too with my oldest son as the audience,” someone else said.

“Also fun fact, baby doesn’t need breast milk now since he’s on solids… you’re just doing it for YOU, not him.

“Also, stop misleading women, please.”

“Most disturbing video of the day,” sighed another.

Do you want to celebrate? Do this at home, but don’t use your baby as a toy.

Meanwhile, others were more concerned about the fact that Anupama did a photoshoot to mark the ‘milestone’ and also decided to share it on social media.

“Why should breastfeeding be filmed in a studio and only be watched by an adult son?” one asked.

“In the name of exposing the natural practices that have been followed for centuries, we have forgotten about modesty.

“It’s sad that we are stooping to the level of social media engagement.

“Let’s set boundaries and stay humble.”

“I don’t like these kind of fashion shoots,” admitted another.

“So you did a photo shoot for this, asked to feed the baby just for the sake of content?” said the third.

“I didn’t want to say, but it’s another level of violence to film your child who doesn’t know what the device is for.

“If you want to celebrate, do it at home, but don’t use your baby as a toy.”

“Unsolicited photo op,” someone else agreed.

“Yes, breastfeeding in public is okay, but that message doesn’t have to be conveyed with such intensity and ostentation. Sorry”.

Despite the criticism, there were people who supported Anupama and the message she was trying to convey.

“Congratulations on starting breastfeeding,” one wrote.

“However, it is sad to read most of the comments from other women/mothers…

“If your senior sees how you deal with these problems, it will only make him love and respect you even more.

“The next time he sees a mother feeding her baby, it will remind him of you and will not consider it immodest.”

Another noted that the World Health Organization “does not specify when breastfeeding should be stopped.”

“It all depends on the mother and child,” they added.

“Breast milk has so many benefits for a baby and it is her strength that allows her to maintain that in a way that I couldn’t.

“Why do women humiliate other women?”

“The average age of breastfeeding worldwide is up to 7 years,” said another.
