Several NFL teams appear content to maintain their current rosters and avoid making any further changes at the 2024 NFL trade deadline.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints likely won’t be “buyers or sellers” before the Nov. 5 deadline and will navigate in the rest of the graph as is.

It’s no secret or exciting, but it makes sense: The Denver Broncos like what they’re building with their young players, especially after their best offensive performance of the season last week (28 points with four touchdowns from Bo Nix). Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has been a superstar, leading a unit that has slowed down some high-powered offenses this year. However, I don’t expect the Broncos to be buyers or sellers. You can add the Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints to this group.

The Raiders are currently 2-6 and in last place in the AFC West standings. The team has already traded away wide receiver Davante Adams, and other players such as Maxxx Crosby and Jakobi Meyers could be an intriguing market. However, the team has consistently expressed a desire to avoid additional moves and instead maintain the current roster and possibly upgrade it in the offseason.

The Bills are in a much different situation, currently 6-2 in the AFC East. Wide receiver Amari Cooper joined the team last month, and further moves could help the team secure a potential first-round bye in the postseason. However, the Bills only have $2.6 million in cap space, according to Spotrac, and the potential move would likely require some financial maneuvering.

The Denver Broncos are currently 5-3 and appear to be a legitimate contender to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. An additional playmaker for rookie quarterback Bo Nix could help improve the team’s chances, but giving up value and potentially clogging up a roster full of young talent doesn’t seem like a desirable strategy for Denver.

The New Orleans Saints started 2-0 but have since lost six games in a row and will need a complete change of pace to make the postseason. Trading some talent could be an intriguing option, but the hot start and talent on the roster make the season a difficult choice.
