RNC Sues Georgia Counties for Accepting Weekend Ballots and Ban on Monitoring GOP Polls

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley announced Saturday that the organization’s election integrity chapter has filed a lawsuit against Georgia counties.

“Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties decided at the last minute to accept weekend ballots, which is against the law,” Whatley wrote on social media site X.

“They also did not allow our poll observers to observe the process,” he added. “The Secretary of State has directed that Republican poll watchers be allowed in, but local officials REFUSE. Our Election Integrity Operation has filed a lawsuit.”

Whatley said Democratic officials are moving “fast and loose” with election law.

“Georgia voters are demanding that the state and courts ensure these reckless counties conduct fair, transparent and secure elections,” Whatley said. “Anything less undermines public trust.”

This is not the first time counties in the Peach State have been sued over an election this year.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Southern Poverty Law Center are suing a Georgia county over allegations that it failed to send out nearly 3,000 absentee ballots by the deadline.
