‘He might be hard to catch at the front’ – Harry Wilson tips for all 10 Breeders’ Cup races at Del Mar on Saturday.

‘He might be hard to catch at the front’ – Harry Wilson tips for all 10 Breeders’ Cup races at Del Mar on Saturday.

Harry Wilson returns with his advice for all ten Breeders’ Cup races at Del Mar on Saturday night. . .

6.15 Del Mar
Goldikova Stakes as a gift Yaamava (3rd grade), 1v

Harry’s advice: Rakia

The Americans don’t look particularly strong in this fight. Kathmandu will likely try to lead them, but she had to give it her all to Rakiya when the pair met at the Oak in Glorious Goodwood, and she will find it difficult to change form given that the distance between the pair that day would have been greater if not for the choice there was enough space (was promoted to first place). Frankie Dettori in the saddle also attracts attention.

Jki: Frankie Dettori TNR: Owen Burrows

7.00 Del Mar
PNC Bank Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (Grade 1), 7f

Harry’s advice: Society

Last year the society could only manage fourth place, but she fought at a high pace that day and perhaps there won’t be as much pressure this time. She improved her reappearance when she ran on the Ballerina with Scylla and Wahwa behind her, and she could have had even more.

Jki: Tyler Gaffalione TNR: Stephen Asmussen

7.41 Del Mar
Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (Level 1), 5f

Harry’s advice: Bradsell

Cogburn has been very impressive and looks the man to beat, but he’s strong in the 6ft finish and loses speed on the tight course, so I’ll take my chances with Bradsell taking him down under Holly Doyle. Archie Watson has worked wonders to bring him back from injury and he looks better than ever, winning races at Nunthorpe and Flying Five and then running a brilliant race at Abbaye on softer ground. There isn’t much difference in fit between the pair and the faster dirt and track should suit him better.

Jki: Holly Doyle TNR: Archie Watson

8.21 Del Mar
Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (Class 1), 1m1f

Harry’s advice: Amazing result

Torpedo Anna is someone to beat if she repeats the form of her second place finish in the Traverse Stakes, but she has not been at this level in any other start and is being passed over with a superb result. There appears to be little speed ahead and this Japanese runner, the Justify colt, who scores seven out of seven in dirt racing, could outpace his compatriot before claiming another win for the nation in this event.

Jki: Yutaka Take TNR: Yasutoshi Iki

9.01 Del Mar
Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (Class 1), 1m4f

Harry’s advice: Shahryar

Shahryar was a bit unlucky when third to Auguste Rodin in this race last year, as he provided the winner with a perfect seam on the rail and was beaten by just two lengths by Rebel’s Romance at the Dubai Sheema Classic in March. He returned to the same race in Sapporo in August as last year’s prep but this time his RPR was 33lb higher and he will certainly be ready for it.

Jki: Christian Demuro TNR: Hideaki Fujiwara

9.41 Del Mar
Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (class 1), 1m2f

Harry’s advice: Cruelty

It revolves around the City of Troy, but its potential unsuitability for dirt worries me. In the softer conditions on the Eclipse, he looked tired, which, along with his demeanor, doesn’t bode well for him in the mud. Also, as at Sandown, at the International he hangs on the right, which can be a serious trap on this track, while he will find it difficult to dictate the situation as he did that day. I’ll go with Fiersens, who has shown his opponents a clean pair of straight heels the last two times and will be hard to catch on the front end.

Jki: John R. Velasquez TNR: Todd Pletcher

10.25 Del Mar
Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (Grade 1), 1 m3 ft

Harry’s advice: Content

The content improved with an invigorated ride, finishing third behind next heroine Ark Bluechucking on softer ground than she would have liked in Pretty Polly, before finishing second in the Irish Oaks and winning the Yorkshire equivalent – both over 1m 4ft on good ground and and good to firm. . Her last two attempts can be ignored as the ground was too soft and she could be expected to bounce back.

Jki: Ryan Moore TNR: AP O’Brien

11.05 Del Mar
Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint (Level 1), 6f

Harry’s advice: Nakatomi

Many of them came out last time out and like to keep the momentum going, which could benefit the closer Nakatomi. He was denied a clear run when third in this race last year and, after facing plenty of trouble at the Golden Shaheen in Dubai in March, he bounced back with Grade 1 success at Saratoga in July. He fell behind on a track where he should have held the pace last time, so that’s easily forgiven and we can expect more here.

Jki: Tyler Gaffalione TNR: Wesley A. Ward

11.45 Del Mar
FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile presented by PDJF (Level 1), 1 meter

Harry’s advice: Notable Speech

It should be a good race with 2000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes winner Notable Speech and Porta Fortuna, winners of three Group 1s in a row, looking to be the biggest winners. Preference is given to the former, who has shown stunning leg turn to win events at Newmarket and Goodwood and can be forgiven for failing on soft ground at Longchamp last time out. Charlie Appleby and William Buick can make it four wins in a row in this competition.

Jki: William Buick TNR: Charlie Appleby

12.25 Del Mar
Breeders’ Cup Big Ass Dirt Mile (Level 1) 1 Meter

Harry’s advice: Internal product

Domestic Product followed up an impressive win in the Grade 3 Belmont and a win in the Grade 7 1 Saratoga in August by continuing to win by the slimmest of margins. He won this in useful time and may be able to improve further by the mile.

Jki: Flavien Prat TNR: Chad S. Brown
