Danville man sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to sell cocaine

On October 30, Richard Tyler, 47, formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release.

On June 28, 2019, an agent with the Vermilion County Metropolitan Law Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at the residence of Richard Tyler in Danville, Illinois.

In the kitchen of the home, agents found a container filled with 25 individual packages of a substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine.

The total weight of the parcels was 4.8 grams. Testing by scientists at the Illinois State Police Forensic Science Laboratory determined that the substance contained cocaine.

Additionally, inside the home, agents found packaging materials and a piece of paper with a list of names and amounts of money, as well as a cell phone and U.S. currency.
