Where to find some of the hottest Melbourne Cup events in the western suburbs

There’s a stampede in Perth’s western suburbs in the race to have the best Melbourne Cup party in Perth.

And at least one is trying its best to make the first Tuesday in November dedicated to anything other than horse racing, but still with dresses and flowing drinks for those forced to dress up while saying “Nup to the Cup”.

For those who like to bet once a year, here are five tips. Of course, play responsibly.

Melbourne Cup Beachside

Leaning away from the racecourse and towards Cotta’s beach breeze, The Shorehouse, a popular restaurant, offers a day of non-stop entertainment for those who love the glitz and glamor of race day.

The seaside venue, hosted by Sunrise’s Matt Tinney, will feature a stylish runway show from Perth eveningwear label Meraki, as well as prizes for best dressed.

But fashion isn’t the only thing on the menu: diners can look forward to a four-course lunch at the restaurant, as well as the chance to visit the Minuty Rose Lounge and Belvedere Martini Bar for refreshing drinks.

The day will feature beats from Selina Murby, as well as a fresh and colorful display from Perth florist Cotton & Sage.

Claw Cup Carnival

For those looking for a change of pace from the standard race day celebrations and looking to donate to a good cause, the Perth Claw Cup Carnival can be a great alternative.

Perth’s favorite cat shelter, Cat Haven, is calling on cat lovers to join a fundraising drive to help support the more than 7,500 cats that come through its doors each year.

Combining the excitement of race day with the charm of their beloved kitties, Cat Haven hosts fun events, including their own version of animal racing where visitors can cheer on their favorite furballs as they race to the finish line—guaranteed. this will be the cutest race you have ever seen.

In addition to the best dressed competition, runway and raffles, guests will also enjoy a three-hour drinks package and a decadent grazing and dessert buffet.

“This event is more than just a day of fun; this is an opportunity to support our mission and help us continue to provide shelter, medical care and loving homes to cats in need,” said Amber, Marketing and Fundraising Manager for Cat Haven.

“We are particularly focused on raising funds for newborn kittens who need intensive care to survive and thrive.”

Steve Melbourne Cup

The fine wine and dining destination in the heart of Nedlands once again brings together the very best of a successful race day party, starting with an all-inclusive package.
