Seahawks Name Head Coach Mike McDonald Nominee for 2024 Salute to Service Award

Although Head Coach Mike McDonald is not a West Point graduate or a veteran, he is inspired to respect and honor our service members, veterans and their families as his father served in the military and graduated from the United States Military Academy, Army West. Dot.

By being with the Seahawks since February, McDonald has demonstrated his respect and care for the military community. During the offseason, McDonald and the entire team traveled to Joint Base Lewis-McChord for team building and interaction with the 1-2 Styker Brigade Combat Team. McDonald also invited the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels to practice and talk to the team.

MacDonald showed that he will continually honor military members and embody every member of the NFL’s Salute to Service campaign. Whether it was visiting the base with the entire team or meeting with the Army Rangers after training to learn how they operate and apply it to a championship-caliber culture, MacDonald as a head coach respected, empowered and united the military.
