The young gunman’s girlfriend Mariah Scientist spoke out after his release

Singer Mariah the Scientist sat diligently in the gallery for many of Young Thug’s trial on RICO charges against him in Georgia. Now that Thug, born Jeffrey Williams, has been released following a plea deal, she’s celebrating his return.

“Thank you, God, thank you, God. This is more than what we prayed for,” scientist Mariah said in a text message to Atlanta-based WSB-TV reporter Michael Seiden. “We are so grateful, this is the greatest opportunity we have ever been given and we are so grateful. Thank you to Judge Paige Whitaker for giving us the opportunity to move forward with our lives! Thank you, God. Thank you to Brian Steele, Keith Adams and every tireless attorney working on this case. THANK YOU! I can’t say it, I can’t repay you for it. You changed our lives, Jeffrey’s life and mine. Thanks to everyone who was next to us, every fan who believed in us and prayed for us.”

On the night of Thug’s release, Mariah the Scientist performed in Brooklyn as part of Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea tour. On stage, through tears, she acknowledged victory with prayer. “It really took a long time and it was really hard,” she said. “There were people who told me I would never see him again. There were people who laughed at me and at the situation, making fun of us. This is fucking crazy shit, man,” she said before appearing to catch herself swearing.

“It has to be a prayer,” she said before introducing her message to the audience. “All you motherfuckers that doubted me, doubted all this shit and said that nigga would never come back, fuck you all. What do you say now, bitch? Mariah usually sends out a “Free Thug” message at her concerts, but last night she said she’d have to change that. “Let’s get to the end so I can get on this plane!” she added.

She and Young Thug have two songs together: 2022’s “Walked In” and 2023’s “Ride.” Last year, Thug responded to her song “From a Woman” with his own song, “From a Man.”
