Man says he won’t return twice-abandoned rescue dog to shelter

Footage of a man talking to his foster dog about the puppy not returning to the shelter has melted hearts online.

The clip, posted to TikTok by Janelle Laggenbauer (@fostermommy.xo) on Oct. 20, shows the moment her husband sat down and spoke tenderly to 4-year-old pit bull Nino, who was abandoned twice before finding his way to Laggenbauer’s home.

In the video, the husband reassures Niño about his upcoming visit to the shelter he came from.

“We’re going to the adoption agency, okay? We should take you along so you guys can meet and greet. Fine?” – he said. “We are not taking you there to bring you back. We’ll take you there to meet a friend and then take you home. Fine?”

His soft tone and serious repetition seemed to comfort Niño, who looked like he was soaking up every bit of the conversation.

Niño is the couple’s first adopted dog and has only been with them for four weeks. “I had a need to start breeding dogs, and I truly believe this is my calling,” Laggenbauer said. Newsweek. The couple is currently renovating part of their home to create a shelter for dogs in need. However, they felt obligated to foster Niño and have since adopted a second dog named Omelette.

Laggenbauer noted that the visit to the shelter caused some anxiety in Niño, who showed signs of nervousness when passing other barking dogs.

“Dogs that come into the shelter suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder,” she said. Fortunately, after meeting Omelette, Niño calmed down and was very happy to return home. Talking to her husband, Laggenbauer believes, helped ease Niño’s fears.

Laggenbauer’s video has received more than 320,000 views on TikTok, with users gushing over the man’s affectionate treatment of Niño.

One TikTok user wrote in the comments section: “Can we talk about the amazing GREEN FLAG man you have??? I love it so much! Dogs are the best people!”

Another added: “They definitely understand. I took in a three year old Dobie who was being neglected. He understands 100 percent.”

The family plans to officially adopt Niño in the coming week — a decision they have yet to announce on their TikTok account — where many viewers are asking what’s next for him.

“He fits in perfectly with our family and is in love with our 8 month old puppy. He’s also a protector, which is what I wanted. He’s too perfect to give up.” said Laggenbauer.
