A Los Angeles subway bus was set on fire after the Dodgers won the World Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, on Wednesday night, but fans at home in Southern California were looking forward to a victory in Los Angeles.

Dodgers fans took to the streets after the team’s 7-6 win in Game 5, and some of the celebrations seemed to get a little out of hand.

Los Angeles police told ESPN they made 12 arrests following the World Series victory and noted that a Metropolitan Transit Authority bus was set on fire. Video of the burning bus could be seen on social media, with the incident reportedly occurring near Echo Park.

In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, the transit agency said, “Metro is disappointed and outraged by the senseless act of vandalism on one of our buses following the Dodgers’ World Series victory earlier this evening.”

During a news conference Thursday, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass noted that there was some unrest, but noted that most fan celebrations were peaceful. Bass also announced that the team’s championship parade will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, which would have been the 64th birthday of the late Fernando Valenzuela, who passed away last week.
