Salma Hayek props up Balenciaga’s exaggerated hips in a custom dress alongside Penelope Cruz at the 2024 WSJ Innovator Awards

Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek reunited on the red carpet on Tuesday for WSJ. The magazine’s 14th annual Innovator Awards, held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The Bandidas co-stars posed for photos, offering visual contrast in silver and red eveningwear that highlighted their individual style.

She chose a bodycon dress from Balenciaga in shimmering silver from the winter 2024 collection. The dress featured a plunging, draped top that added subtle movement and texture to the structured silhouette. A thigh-high slit along one side added a bold twist to the look, revealing strappy metallic high heels underneath. The floor-length hem and fitted fit highlighted her figure.

Next to her, Hayek, styled by Rebecca Corbin Murray, showed off a custom red dress that highlighted the minimalist yet statement-making look. The dress was strapless and floor-length, highlighting a structured waist that complemented the overall silhouette. Hayek paired the dress with a cropped black cape, adding an extra touch to the streamlined design. She accessorized her outfit with a black clutch, highlighting the modern aesthetic with understated accessories.

“I used this collection as a platform for creative expression, really focusing on my personal style,” Demna said in a phone interview with WWD’s Miles Socha about the brand’s fall 2024 collection ahead of the show.

The duo’s coordinated approach created further contrast. Their red carpet appearances continue to turn heads not only for the colors and silhouettes they choose, but also for how those choices reflect their signature style.
