The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 deadline is just a few hours away as 10 franchises are set to finalize the list of players they want to retain ahead of the mega auction. Each franchise can retain a maximum of 6 players, including one unlimited player. But there are still certain rules that every franchise must follow. The price bifurcation announced by the IPL Governing Council has made customer retention a challenge for most franchises. Those who were willing to keep most of their players don’t want to take a big hit to their wallets. Those who were ready to let most of the players go are wondering whether to make the most of certain loopholes that exist in the rulebook.

With all 10 franchises seemingly ready to announce the names of their remaining players, we take a closer look at the rules that need to be followed.
