Derbyshire’s new bus service provider announced

DCT operated council shopping buses in Chesterfield, Bolsover, North East Derbyshire, Erewash and Amber Valley.

It also ran a trial of the Travel Derbyshire On Demand bus service, with bookings available across Chesterfield, Bolsover and north-east Derbyshire.

The authority said these services “will operate exactly as they do now” and the booking app used for the on-demand service will remain the same.

Charlotte Capit, the county council’s cabinet member for roads assets and transport, said: “We know these services are a lifeline for many communities across the county, so we are working hard to ensure they continue.”

The authority added that it has now found operators that will take over all services provided by DCT on its behalf and aims to “make the transfer of these services as simplified as possible.”

CT4N managing director Barry Allitt added: “It is always disappointing when an operator such as Derbyshire Community Transport takes steps to cease trading.

“CT4N will now begin working with the team that currently provides the service so that all the familiar and friendly drivers can continue to work with CT4N in the future.”
