New York Yankees fans are doing everything they can to help their team advance to Game 5 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In the bottom of the first inning of Game 4, Mookie Betts took a diving catch against the wall and knocked the ball out for an out, but two fans at Yankee Stadium tried to snatch the ball from his glove. The game was canceled after the referees claimed there was interference from fans.

“This was one of the most aggressive fan-tearing-the-ball-out-of-the-glove (incidents) I’ve ever seen,” longtime former MLB umpire Dale Scott said, according to Coutee.

Both the Yankees and their fans are desperate for a win, hoping to avoid beating Los Angeles. New York seemed capable of giving the Dodgers a good run after they went into extra innings in Game 1, but from then on it was all Los Angeles.

The Dodgers won Game 2 4–2 and dominated Game 3 as their pitchers held the Yankees scoreless until the ninth inning when Alex Verdugo finally got them on the board with a two-run homer.

Los Angeles’ job on the mound has been too much for New York through three games, especially for star Aaron Judge, who got a hit in Game 1 but has since gone 0-for-7 and gotten on base just once.

Now on the brink of elimination, the Yankees need someone who can step up and contribute more, although they would probably prefer their fans just enjoy the game rather than try to create their own game.
