Five potential Cubs free agent targets this offseason

Five potential Cubs free agent targets this offseason

With the World Series already underway, MLB free agency is getting closer and closer every day.

One team that will certainly be active in the free agent market and looking to improve their team and return to the postseason for the first time since 2020 is the Chicago Cubs. Here are five potential targets the Cubs could sign.

Corbin Burns

The Chicago Cubs front office has said its top priority this offseason is signing a starting pitcher, and there is no better option than Burns.

Coming off one of the best seasons of his career with the Orioles, in which he posted a 15–9 record and 2.92 ERA, Burns will be the most sought after free agent pitcher on the market. Burns’ signing with the Cubs would reunite him with his former manager in Milwaukee, Craig Counsell.

Signing Burns would give Chicago’s rotation a top-notch right-handed starting pitcher, as well as two aces in left field in Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga.
