Subway is accused of skimping on deli meats and “grossly misleading” customers with sandwich ads, the lawsuit says.

(Gray News) – Subway is being sued for allegedly skimping on meat and “grossly misleading” customers by advertising sandwiches that contain 200% more meat than customers actually receive.

According to the lawsuit filed in New York, the advertisement for the Steak and Cheese sandwich shows layers of meat stacked high, reaching about the same height as the main bread surrounding them.

However, when Anna Tollison paid $7.61 for a steak and cheese sandwich, she received far less meat than advertised.

In fact, based on several photographs in the complaint, the fast food chain’s sandwiches are much more bread than filling.

Based on Tollison’s experience, she believes the fast food giant’s advertising is “misleading.”

The lawsuit says the alleged misrepresentation is “particularly troubling at a time when inflation, food and prices are so high.”

Tollison is seeking unspecified damages for New Yorkers who purchased Steak & Cheese sandwiches in the past three years.

Tollison’s lawyer said the case is “a blatant example of the type of advertising we are trying to stop.”

Similar lawsuits were filed against McDonald’s and Wendy’s, but were dismissed, Reuters reported.

Subway has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
