FIRST WARNING | Chris Bailey threw a spooky Halloween shower

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – We’re back to VERY moderate momentum in the final days of October. This moderate increase in temperatures precedes the arrival of a cold front on Halloween that will bring gusty showers and a few thunderstorms to the Commonwealth.

Temperatures today reach 75 to 80 degrees in most areas, with temperatures reaching the 80s in the west. Southwest winds in the center and west will reach 25 to 30 mph at times. There will be a mix of sun and clouds in the sky.

Wednesday looks much the same with winds continuing to pick up ahead of our cold front moving in from the west on Halloween. Winds also play an important role on this front and lead it. Gusts up to 40 meters per second are possible.

This will bring some rain across the state, with some areas possibly receiving between half and 1 inch of rain. They appear in stripes across western and central Kentucky, with far fewer in the east and southeast.

Most of the rain in the east will fall after the Trick or Treat period. In central Kentucky, the action looks set to begin around this time.

On Friday, the first day of November, cold winds will blow behind this system. Highs are in the 50s to 60s and morning showers are fading.

Highs reach 60 degrees Saturday and 70 degrees Sunday as moderate southwest winds blow. It looks like another cold front will arrive late on Election Day, Wednesday.
