With years of experience in multiple sectors, Barstow mayoral candidate Ben Rosenberg wants you to vote.

Rosenberg’s experience includes working as a firefighter for the Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Forest Service, and managing partner of The Fred/Robin Rosenberg Family Limited Partnership, a land development and development company.

He served eight years as director/chairman of the Barstow Fire Protection District and 12 years as trustee/president of the Barstow Unified School District, both elected positions.

During his time on the board, Rosenberg helped create the STEM Academy, the Fine Arts Academy and the Barstow Digital Academy for homeschooled students. He also served two years as a designated personnel committee for the Barstow Unified School District.

“The first goal is to restore respect and civility in the council chambers,” said Rosenberg, a Palm Springs native who has lived in Barstow for 30 years. “It sounds basic and simple, but it is lost and needs to be restored.”

He added that residents need to restore trust in elected officials, and they can do that through communication and transparency.

“We need to have vision and faith within our entire community,” Rosenberg said. “Change and growth are on the horizon. We need to plan for our future. I hope to represent all of Barstow, not just a select few.”

Rosenberg’s opponents in the November general election include incumbent Barstow Councilmember Carmen Hernandez, former Councilmember Timothy Silva and educator Vivian Jordan.
