Apple Intelligence actually launches today! But what is it?

Apple has launched its brilliant new AI system, Apple Intelligence, which introduces a host of new AI features to iPhone, iPad and Mac users through a free software update.

Apple Intelligence is an AI-powered personal intelligence system that makes everyday tasks like writing, image editing, and searching easier and faster, ushering in a new era for Apple AI. Available today on iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. Updates include the first set of features, with many more planned in the coming months.

Apple CEO Tim Cook states, “Apple Intelligence is ushering in a new era for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, delivering entirely new experiences and tools that will transform the experience for our users.”

One of the tools Cook mentioned includes system-wide recording integrated into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It allows users to improve their writing skills by rewriting, clarifying, summarizing and proofreading text wherever they write it. This means texts, emails, pages, and even third-party apps will be able to get instant writing assistance from AI.

The ability to rewrite text may seem like it will remove the human element from your messages, but it allows users to choose from different versions of edited text. Changing the tone can make the text appear more professional and interesting, as well as provide an explanation for any changes.

Speeding up administrative duties will be a boon for creative people like photographers and videographers because it means they have more time to focus on important work. Adding a smarter Photos app will also play a role. Creators will appreciate the new search feature, which helps you find the image or video you’re looking for simply by describing it. This makes scrolling through images a thing of the past!
