Captain Cook Fiji embarks on final cruise – Cruise Industry News

As the company ceases its overnight cruise operations, Caledonian Sky is currently operating Captain Cook Cruises Fiji’s final voyage.

The high-class vessel, carrying 114 guests, set sail from Nadi on October 26 for a seven-day expedition to Lau and Kadavu.

The farewell voyage provides guests with a final opportunity to explore Fiji’s pristine destinations, the company said.

The cruise is marked by crystal lagoons, pristine beaches, sacred sites and vibrant reefs, Captain Cook added.

Passengers also have the opportunity to experience Fijian culture, witness traditional ceremonies and take part in local traditions such as wood carving and pottery making.

The sailing route includes visits to Tivua, Makogai, Kila Kila, Fulaga Island, Vuakawa, Toyota Island and Kadavu.

Following the acquisition of Caledonian Sky in late 2023, Captain Cook Cruises Fiji has announced plans to cease its overnight cruise operations in July 2024.

The company said the decision was made as part of a broader reorganization of its operating strategy.

Although the expedition voyages were reportedly successful, Captain Cook decided to focus on his core business of day cruises and dinner voyages.

Following the completion of its final cruise, Caledonian Sky will be returned to its owner, Australian tour operator APT Travel Group.

The 1991-built ship is due to sail a series of Mediterranean and Western European cruises for Travelmarvel in 2025.

Focusing on the history and culture of the region, the eight- to 15-night cruises are said to feature an experienced cruise director and onboard crew, as well as experienced local guides.

Originally built for Renaissance Cruises, the 4,200-tonne ship has been operated by various cruise lines in the past, including Noble Caledonia and Star Cruises.

Previously, Caledonian Sky replaced the 168-passenger Reef Endeavor in Captain Cook’s fleet. Reef Endeavor has been under company management since 1996.
