Amitabh Bachchan recalls Ratan Tata having no money to call: ‘Can I borrow some money from…’ | Look

The demise of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata last week was a personal loss for many people across industries, be it millennials running startups or high-profile actors and politicians. While hosting the show Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan revealed how Ratan Tata borrowed money from him in London to make a phone call.

Highlighting the simplicity of the business tycoon, KBC show host Amitabh Bachchan said he was completely surprised to see Ratan Tata asking for some money.

In a short clip from the KBC episode featuring R Madhavan, Farah Khan and Boman Irani, Amitabh Bachchan shared the story of his rare encounter with Ratan Tata while they were flying to London.

In a video posted by Sonytvofficial, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan said that when he was flying with Ratan Tata and they both got off the plane after the plane landed at Heathrow Airport in central London, Tata was unable to find his employees who were supposed to be there be to accept it. He later tried to contact them by calling the airport. However, he had no money to call and asked Amitabh Bachchan to lend him some money.

Ratan Tata went into a telephone booth to make a call. After some time he returned and asked, “Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I have nowhere to call,” Amitabh Bachan said on the show.

Ratan Tata died on October 7 after he was admitted to a Mumbai hospital for a routine check-up. After his death, his body was displayed in a glass coffin draped with the tricolor flag. The latest ceremony was attended by many eminent personalities from across the country, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Nitin Gadkari, Mukesh Ambani and others.

A huge crowd gathered in the sweltering heat, from business, political and Bollywood grandees to ordinary people, who witnessed Ratan’s innumerable kindness. The police band played music and the state flag was flown at half-staff.
