Warangal: A group of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) candidates on Tuesday created a ruckus and staged a protest at the Hanamkonda Tahsildar office over the issue of delay in issuing economically weaker section (EWS) category certificates.

According to reports, a large number of EWS category candidates gathered at the Tahsildar’s office and started demanding issuance of EWS certificates to apply for JEE 2025. They alleged that the Tahsildar’s office officials were deliberately not issuing certificates.

They alleged that candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Minorities were given caste certificates and that applications under EWS categories were not entertained.

The candidates approached the Tahsildar and the Revenue Officer and demanded them to issue the certificates at the earliest.

Tahsildar Sripal Reddy told the media that they had no pending EWS category applications and that several applications were rejected as candidates did not submit documents as per norms.

Meanwhile, Hanamkonda Collector P. Pravinya has asked the officials to look into the issue of pending EWS certificates and asked the Tahsildar to take steps to issue EWS certificates to eligible candidates at the earliest.
