16-year-old killed, another seriously injured in Washington DC shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy and seriously injured an adult man Friday afternoon in southeast Washington.

Seventh District officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2800 block of Langston Place SE at approximately 4:16 p.m. Upon arrival, they found two victims – an adult male and a juvenile – both suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported both victims to nearby hospitals, where the juvenile, identified as Darren Johnson, 16, of southeast D.C., was pronounced dead.

The adult male remains hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
