Tom Brady is getting used to life off the field.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion retired from the NFL in 2023, but he’s still in the game thanks to his new broadcast with Fox Sports. While he’s grateful for the opportunity, nothing compares to the feeling of being on the field with his teammates and coaches.

“It was a lot of fun to sit and watch those games from the 50-yard line,” Brady said on Let’s Go! Podcast.” “Although I would prefer to play on the field because it is much more fun, I don’t do that anymore. But just looking up from above and seeing these guys perform is really cool.”

However, he’s happy with this new stage in his life, he tells PEOPLE.

“It was good for me to take some time off,” he said of his retirement from football. “I trained on the treadmill at high speed for a long time and loved it. I loved every minute of the game, and at the same time, when I retired, I really enjoyed it too.”

“Now I’m back to work and I love it, so I have no complaints,” he added. “Like everyone else, I’m trying to wake up and do the best I can for the people who matter most to me. And when you make a commitment to people like I did on Fox, I want to do a great job there for them and my teammates. So my life is quite busy. I’m very happy.”

The people who matter most to Brady? His three children are Jack, 17, Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11.
