When the 2024 NFL schedule was released, fans likely viewed the Week 14 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys as a showdown featuring Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Homer Simpson.

That’s right, get ready to head to Springfield during the broadcast. Monday night football game, ESPN and Disney announced it will feature a special Simpsons Football Day as an alternative broadcast.

“It’s Bart and the Bengals versus Homer and the Cowboys,” the ad read.

Although the game, scheduled for December 9, will still be available in the traditional broadcast format on ESPN and ABC, Simpsons Football Day there will be an alternate presentation to watch on Disney+ and ESPN+. It will also be available via mobile on NFL+.

Using optical tracking from the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Sony Beyond Sports and Sony Hawk-Eye Innovations, Bengals and Cowboys players will appear as animated players in real time at Atoms Stadium in Springfield.

Moreover, Bart and Homer will replace the player and appear on the field with 10 teammates at certain points in the game.

They won’t be the only iconic characters featured in the broadcast: Marge and Lisa will be tasked with interviewing players while Maggie operates the SkyCam. Other characters will appear, as well as the original voices of The Simpsons, such as Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner and Yeardley Smith.

“The Simpsons” producers will also write original content to be included in the telecast, and Bengals and Cowboys players will receive pre-recorded character segments.

This isn’t the first time Disney and ESPN have done something like this: the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons was reported as Toy Story simulcast last year.

Several memorable moments and videos were created that added another element to the broadcast.

The Simpsons I’ll try to do the same this year.
