Violation rate doubles to 40%

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Sunday’s 8:00 pm update from the National Hurricane Center increased the chance of disturbances developing in the Caribbean to 40%. It has doubled since Saturday. There is no chance for more than two days. The Global Forecast System model shows developments later this week and a move to the northeast. However, the European model is not aimed at development. There are no other violations at this time.

Boating conditions will worsen due to increased winds at sea starting Monday. Siz will move two feet with moderate swell to start the workweek. Winds will remain from the northeast at 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots.

By Tuesday, boaters can expect changeable weather with wind gusts reaching 25 knots and sea levels reaching three feet. The weather will further deteriorate on Wednesday with choppy conditions with wind gusts reaching 25 knots and sea levels reaching three feet during the day before reaching four feet in stormy conditions by the evening. By the weekend the wind begins to subside. Statements of caution are likely to be issued on Monday, with advisory statements for small craft likely to follow within the week.

There will continue to be partly cloudy skies, warm temperatures in the mid-80s and overnight lows in the 60s to 70s. Rain chances remain minimal as dry air continues to dominate this week.
