Woman tragically dies after running into propeller of moving plane while taking photos – US News

Unfortunately, the woman died in a horrific accident on the airfield while taking photographs.

The incident took place at Cook Airfield in Derby, Kansas, USA, and the woman was later identified as 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher.

Derby is known as the largest suburb of Wichita and is a city included in Sedgwick County.

Emergency services were called before 3pm on Saturday (October 26) afternoon after the incident was reported to Sedwick County Control Room.

Gallagher was seriously injured and was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the woman had suffered serious injuries after she rear-ended into the plane’s propeller while she was taking photographs of people boarding and exiting the plane.

The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, although in the meantime, Amanda’s loved ones have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise money that will help her family pay for funeral expenses.

Page organizer Abby Charboneau shared a heartfelt message about her late friend following the tragic news of her untimely death.

“Amanda Gallagher was kind, adventurous, creative and beautiful inside and out. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed,” she wrote.

Charboneau continued, “Amanda passed away on October 26th in a very sad accident while doing what she loved: skydiving and photography!

“As her family deals with this tragic accident, they could use your help with funeral expenses. Please consider helping them and also keeping them all in your prayers,” she added.

Following the latest news, Cook Airfield issued a statement on the matter on its official Facebook page.

They wrote: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young woman who died yesterday after a tragic airplane propeller accident at Cook Airfield. I wasn’t there when it happened, so I won’t speculate on what might have happened. or should have happened differently.

“Just please keep her family, her friends and her Air Capital drop zone family in your prayers and thoughts,” they concluded on the matter.

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page had raised just $6,000 (£4,625) of its $12,000 (£9,250) goal.
