North India’s first government homeopathic college in Kathua will admit 63 students for its first academic session, ET HealthWorld


Kathua: North India’s first government homeopathic college, centrally funded at a cost of Rs 80 crore, located in Jasrota area of ​​Kathua district, has officially received permission to admit 63 students for its first academic session.

The college, approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Ministry of Ayush at the request of Dr Jitendra Singh, will enroll its first class of 63 students.

“The counseling process for admission to the first batch of Government Homeopathic College will begin soon,” said Dr B R Doob, chief officer of the college.

The facility is being built in line with the Modi government’s approach to healthcare, which envisages synergy between allopathic and Ayush medicine, including homeopathy, Ayurveda and naturopathy.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, announced the news at X, highlighting the importance of the institution to the region.

“Encouraging news for Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir as a whole. The Homeopathic College, sanctioned on our request by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Ministry of Ayush, whose premises were visited on March 10, 2024, has been given permission to commence its first batch of 63 students,” Dr Singh wrote.

Dub further stated that the Jammu and Kashmir government has already purchased property in Rah Hosiyari and construction of a border wall is underway along with an academic block and a 60-bed facility for patients.

GMC Kathua Principal Dr Surinder Atri said, “This is a very prestigious college in north India and will admit students from JK and other states.”

Residents of Kathua have expressed their gratitude to Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh for his efforts in setting up a new homeopathic college in the region.

This major milestone in the healthcare sector and development of the district is seen as a great opportunity for local youth who want to pursue higher education in the field of homeopathy while also providing patients with better treatment options and cost-effective treatment.

In addition, the college is expected to contribute to the development of the local economy by creating new employment opportunities and commercial activities in the area. (ANI)
