Israeli settlers injured a Palestinian child and burned olive trees in the West Bank

A group of illegal Israeli settlers attacked and injured a Palestinian child and set olive trees on fire in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that settlers from the Hawat Maon outpost in the Masafer Yatta area of ​​Hebron kidnapped 15-year-old Salama Qade Mahamra and took him to the settlement.

According to WAFA, the settlers severely beat the child and then abandoned him near the village of Maghair al-Abid in Masafer Yatta.

Palestinian medical teams took him to the Yatta government hospital for treatment of injuries and bruises all over his body.

The agency reported that in the northern West Bank, settlers set fire to olive trees belonging to Palestinian residents of the village of Yasuf, located in Salfit governorate.

Dozens of olive trees were destroyed in the attack.

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7 last year, there have been 2,777 attacks on settlers in the occupied West Bank, killing 19 Palestinians and displacing 292 families, according to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission. from 28 Bedouin communities.

Over the past few years, the Israeli military has regularly carried out raids in the West Bank, which have intensified since the start of the war.

Palestinians have also been subjected to brutal attacks by illegal Israeli settlers.

Since then, at least 760 Palestinians have been killed and more than 6,250 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.

The escalation follows a landmark ruling by the International Court of Justice last July, which declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian lands “illegal” and ordered the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
