SOMERSET, Ky. (WIMT) – A Somerset couple was arrested after police say an investigation determined they struck a child multiple times.

Police responded to a complaint Oct. 19 of a couple who was potentially abusing a child while he or she was in their care.

A detective with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office received information that Alexander Pence, 34, and his wife, Tracey Pence, 34, both of Somerset, had struck a 2-year-old child multiple times in the face and head.

Both Alexander and Tracy Pence were arrested and taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

They were each charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 years of age or younger.
