Will Kylie Minogue’s Tension II secure her 10th UK chart triumph?

Kylie Minogue is on the verge of making history again. Her 17th studio album. Voltage II is poised to take the top spot on the Official Albums Chart, potentially giving the Australian pop icon her 10th UK number one. Album No. 1.

According to the latest Chart report, in just 48 hours of sales Voltage II moved over 28,800 chart units overseas, significantly outpacing its closest competitor by more than 2:1 in the midweek charts.

If Kylie takes the top spot, it will be a monumental achievement for an artist who has been at the forefront of global pop music for nearly four decades.

Kylie’s current success with Voltage II closely follows her previous album, Voltagewhich reached number one in the UK and Australia and also contained the hit “Padam Padam”, which reached the top ten in the UK and won an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release. The track was also nominated for three other ARIA Awards: Best Solo Artist, Best Independent Release and Song of the Year, with the latter being decided by public voting.

“Padam Padam” was not just a hit on home soil, but became a viral sensation and won the award for Best Pop Dance Recording at the 2024 Grammy Awards, exactly 20 years after she won her first Grammy. ” in 2004 with “Come Into My World”.

Previously in 2024, she received the Global Icon Award at the BRIT Awards, becoming the second woman to receive it after Taylor Swift in 2021, and then won the Billboard Women in Music Icon Award.

She also completed her first residency in Las Vegas and signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for live performances in the US and Canada and acting roles worldwide.

But Kylie isn’t the only Australian talent to rock the UK charts this week. Brisbane dance-pop sensation Confidence Man has made a splash with his third album. 3am (LA LA LA), currently planning to debut in the top 5 of the UK chart.

While Kylie is once again dominating the UK charts, she continues to shine at home in Australia. Her upcoming Strenuous tourwhich was announced last month, has already expanded due to overwhelming demand.

Originally scheduled to hit major cities including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, Kylie has now added new shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney to satisfy her loyal fans. This will be her biggest tour in 13 years, and she promised fans an unforgettable experience:

Voltage IIwhich includes collaborations with artists like Diplo and Bebe Rexha, continues Kylie’s remarkable streak of success, and the pop icon shows no signs of slowing down.

Kylie’s 2025 Australian tour kicks off on February 15 at the RAC Arena in Perth and runs until early March, hitting major cities along the way.
