Wellington at the Ulysses Regional Girls Golf Championship.

Sumner Newscow Report — The Wellington women’s golf team qualified for day two of the Class 4A state tournament in Hesston. The Crusaders are currently in second place, four strokes behind Topeka Hayden after 18 holes on Monday.

Wellington currently have a team score of +73. Topeka Hayden is in first place with +69. McPherson is +79, Augusta is +92, Baldwin is +96 and Buehler is +96. The remaining six teams eliminated: Bishop Miguet, Eudora, Winfield, Chanute, Pratt and Andale. Team results can be viewed Here.

Individually, Claire Ginther is fifth with a score of 80, eight over par. Taryn Viramontes is in eighth place with an 84, 12-over par. Presley Cornejo is 23rd with over 21, or 93.

Haley Gulick is tied for 42nd with a par of 32 over at 104 to round out the team score.

The other two girls from Wellington are Kenna Maxwell at +41 and Belle Angleton at +43.

Tomorrow they will play another 18 holes to determine the state championship.
